Solar Power – PVOIL Moves Toward Green Energy Solutions
24.08.2025
In recent years, PVOIL’s retail network and petroleum sales have grown steadily. With nearly 900 petrol stations nationwide and an annual sales volume exceeding 5.6 million cubic meters of fuel, PVOIL now commands around 23% of the domestic market.
Alongside the expansion of its traditional petroleum retail operations, PVOIL has proactively adopted initiatives to keep pace with the accelerating global energy transition. Key directions include leveraging its extensive fuel distribution network to partner with strategic allies in installing electric-vehicle (EV) charging stations and battery-swap facilities at petrol stations; collaborating with partners to explore investment opportunities—or directly investing—in rooftop solar systems at these stations to supply clean electricity for EV charging. On this basis, PVOIL also aims to participate in the carbon-credit trading market to further enhance operational efficiency across the entire network.
To date, PVOIL has put more than 400 EV charging stations into operation across its retail system, delivering measurable business benefits for the corporation and its subsidiaries. Building on this success, PVOIL is now installing rooftop solar power systems integrated with GRES energy-storage technology at its stations to provide renewable electricity for EV chargers. The first installation was completed at the Phu Huu station (No. 579 Vo Chi Cong Street, Long Truong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) and officially began operations on August 22, 2025.
The newly deployed solar system at Phu Huu station—featuring a capacity of 81.2 KWp and a daily output of 326 KWh—can supply enough power to charge an additional 20 to 30 electric cars each day, helping to “green” the energy source. At the same time, the rooftop solar installation is expected to boost revenue and significantly improve business performance at the station.
This strategic model—capitalizing on PVOIL’s nationwide distribution network to expand EV charging infrastructure while investing in rooftop solar power—aligns perfectly with the global shift toward sustainable energy. It promises both economic returns and a stable supply of clean electricity for electric vehicles, contributing to Vietnam’s long-term energy transition and sustainable development goals.
The rooftop solar power system and integrated GRES energy-storage unit at Phu Huu station supply clean electricity directly to the EV charging facilities, ensuring a stable and sustainable source of energy.
This rooftop solar power solution, combined with the GRES integrated energy-storage system, represents a forward-looking model that not only supports PVOIL’s business growth but also strengthens its contribution to Vietnam’s broader shift toward sustainable and renewable energy.
The EV charging station at Phu Huu has been in operation since December 2023, providing convenient and reliable charging services for electric vehicle users.
