PVOIL Determined to Promote Science and Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation

On 22 October 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Steering Committee for Science and Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation (the Steering Committee) of Vietnam Oil Corporation – JSC (PVOIL) held its first meeting.
In his opening remarks, Mr Nguyen Dang Trinh – President & CEO of PVOIL, Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee emphasized the critical role of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in enhancing PVOIL’s competitiveness and improving corporate governance, he requested that investments be focused, substantive, and effective, avoiding formality.
During the meeting, PVOIL announced decisions on the consolidation of personnel, operational regulations of the Steering Committee, and its Supporting Task Force for Science and Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation.
Ms Le Thi Thu Huong – Vice President of PVOIL, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee presented Action Program No. 34-CTr/DU and breakthrough research orientations for the 2025–2030 period. The program focuses on the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation aligned with PVOIL’s corporate strategy, based on the principles: “Leadership pioneering – Research grounded in practice – Efficient resource utilization – KPI evaluation for individuals and units based on implementation results – System-wide application of research outcomes.”
The Information Technology Division reported on the current status, objectives, and roadmap for digital transformation from 2025 to 2030, aiming for PVOIL to become a digitalized energy enterprise by 2030, with its digital maturity level increasing from 2.3 (2025) to 3.0 (2030).
The Safety Engineering Division proposed six specific initiatives for implementing science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, including: blending and trading E10 gasoline across the system; developing non-fuel services and suitable deployment models for PVOIL; smart petroleum retail stations; managing exchange-rate volatility affecting fuel cost; using inverters for pump control at PVOIL petroleum terminals; deploying solar power systems at PVOIL petroleum terminals.
The Deputy Heads of the Steering Committee emphasized the need to accelerate automation; implement an integrated ERP system; complete the overall Digital Transformation Architecture and central data repository; and pilot a fully automated petroleum terminal as a basis for system-wide replication across PVOIL. They stressed the importance of prioritizing synchronized investment in technology and data infrastructure, addressing hardware bottlenecks, and selecting practical digital initiatives that have direct impact on business operations. The Steering Committee called for strong coordination among divisions and units, considering science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation as core responsibilities; promoting the role of key catalysts; and fostering innovation starting from small, effective initiatives such as paperless offices and digital signatures, progressing toward the digitalization of management data and the adoption of intelligent reporting
In his concluding remarks, Mr Cao Hoai Duong – Secretary of Party Committee, Chairman of Board of Directors of PVOIL, Head of the Steering Committee, affirmed: “Science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation are indispensable requirements and key drivers for PVOIL’s development.” Therefore, the entire system must continue shifting its mindset and take decisive action, considering these tasks central to the Corporation’s political, operational, and governance priorities for 2026 and the years ahead.
