On 14 November 2025, Vietnam Oil Corporation – JSC (PVOIL) organized its 3rd Annual Scientific Workshop. This important event is part of PVOIL’s ongoing science and technology (S&T) initiative, held regularly to provide a forum for exchanging information, sharing experiences, presenting the latest research outcomes, and setting directions for scientific research and technological application across the Corporation.

The workshop was chaired by Mrs. Le Thi Thu Huong – Vice President of PVOIL and Chairwoman of PVOIL Science Council, with the participation of members of the Board of Directors, the Executive Board, leaders of divisions, offices, subsidiaries, experts, and employees passionate about scientific research. Notably, the Workshop welcomed guest speaker Dr Dao Duy Anh – Deputy Director General, Department of Innovation, Green Transition and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade), who delivered a presentation on policies, market dynamics, and the roadmap for the rollout of E10 bio-gasoline from 2026. The hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation, helped expand engagement and enabled a wide range of technical, managerial, and professional personnel to discuss and update new knowledge.

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Le Thi Thu Huong emphasized the critical role of S&T in the development of the petroleum industry amid the ongoing energy transition and increasing demands for service quality, operational management, environmental responsibility, and compliance with Government regulations for petroleum trading. She affirmed: “Research and innovation are not merely technical tasks but also the driving force that enables PVOIL to enhance competitiveness, keep pace with the green energy transition, and meet national and international standards.”

During the Workshop, Dr. Dao Duy Anh provided a comprehensive overview of the development orientation for biofuels, the necessity of E10 gasoline within the national energy strategy, along with technical and legal requirements and newly issued regulatory documents. His insights not only strengthened the academic depth of the program but also revealed practical perspectives for PVOIL to shape its business strategies in the coming period.

The Workshop focused on three major themes that reflect critical trends in both domestic and global energy sectors: Biofuels and emission-reduction technologies; Solutions for modernizing petroleum terminal equipment; and Bio-gasoline – Policies, market trends, and roadmap for implementation from 2026.

The passionate and determined spirit of PVOIL’s leadership and employees in mastering technology created a strong foundation for the in-depth discussions throughout the program. Specifically:

The session on Biofuels and Emission-Reduction Technologies focused on key topics including: biofuels and emission-reduction technologies; global energy-use and investment trends; CO₂ capture technologies and their applications as feedstock; and the production and consumption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in selected countries.

The session on solutions for modernizing petroleum terminal equipment covered: completing and safely operating machinery, equipment, and technical infrastructure with system-wide synchronization; enhancing automation to optimize operational efficiency and meet digital transformation trends; applying AI, IoT, and big data for management, monitoring, and predictive maintenance; and developing modern petroleum terminal models with centralized operation to optimize manpower and reduce costs.

The session on policies, market trends, and the roadmap for implementation from 2026 attracted significant attention and discussion. This is a key solution aimed at reducing emissions and promoting sustainable energy in line with the Government’s direction. Delegates focused on analyzing core issues such as the rollout roadmap for bio-gasoline, the readiness of the Vietnamese market, and the preparedness of petroleum trading enterprises.

Throughout the Workshop, delegates engaged in open and constructive discussions, sharing valuable experiences and providing critical perspectives. Numerous questions on policy, technical matters, and market issues were raised and thoroughly addressed, contributing to a clearer orientation for each thematic area.

The serious, scientific, and open-minded working spirit helped create a Workshop rich in depth and highly informative for PVOIL's units across the system.
