Safety - Health - Environment (SHE) plays a particularly important role in PVOIL's operations.

On January 12, 2024, PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) held a SHE conference in Vung Tau city to review, evaluate SHE activities across the organization, and discuss and share experiences, solutions, and address challenges to further improve, optimize, and professionalize SHE activities at PVOIL.
The conference was attended by Mr. Cao Hoai Duong, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Management of PVOIL; Mr. Doan Van Nhuom, Deputy Party Secretary - President and CEO of PVOIL; members of the Board of Management; Board of General Director; leaders of the trade union organizations; leader of division and office; leaders and officers of SHE at the subordinate units, and subsidiaries.
With the characteristics of production and business activities of petroleum products, SHE activities have played a very important role in the production and business results of PVOIL over the past 15 years of formation and development.
Recognizing the importance of this work, PVOIL has constantly improved SHE management; ensuring fire prevention and fighting safety; ensuring the health of workers, as well as preventing accidents causing environmental pollution in all activities from import, storage, blending, and gasoline business throughout the system.
The conference focused on reviewing the activities of SHE activities of the corporation in 2022-2023 and spent a lot of time discussing, sharing experiences, real-life situations, solutions, and lessons in SHE activities such as: drafting an oil spill response plan to meet new legal regulations in the business activities of petrol stations; the practice of implementing SHE activities of PVOIL in Laos; accidents of the underground pipeline across the Dinh River and the Phao Neo port 50,000 DWT; management and control of maritime accidents; electric vehicle batteries and firefighting of Lithium-ion batteries;
Through this, providing additional knowledge about safety, lessons learned, and solutions from management to business operations to identify all risks, prevent similar incidents, and optimize SHE work at PVOIL in the future.
At the conference, PVOIL leaders presented an action plan on Safety, Health, and Environment with 9 groups of contents and solutions to be implemented in 2024; at the same time, launched units in the whole system to register and implement ideas and initiatives in all fields of operation, including SHE activities. Representatives of the leaders of the corporation and the subsidiaries signed a commitment sheet, expressing their determination to work together to implement the tasks and contents set out by the corporation.
In his speech at the conference, Mr. Cao Hoai Duong, Chairman of the Board of Management of PVOIL, affirmed that SHE work, especially fire prevention and safety, has contributed very importantly to the production and business results of the corporation over the past 15 years. Mr. Cao Hoai Duong highly appreciated and praised the results achieved in SHE work of the entire system, in which there is a positive and effective contribution from SHE staff at the corporation level and each subsidiaries.
Emphasizing the risks and hazards of fire and explosion in the petroleum business, the Chairman of the Board of Management of PVOIL seriously pointed out the remaining problems and requested the entire system to seriously review and evaluate the shortcomings in SHE work. He said that the system must not be subjective, always be on high alert, and be ready to respond and handle situations and incidents when they occur. Therefore, at each PVOIL production and business facility, fire protection equipment must always be ready and employees must practice fire prevention operations regularly and skillfully. Regular and unscheduled inspections, briefings, and drills must be combined.
In conclusion of the conference, PVOIL President and CEO Mr. Doan Van Nhuom continued to emphasize and thoroughly grasp the extremely important nature of fire prevention and safety work in PVOIL's production and business activities. He acknowledged and praised the contributions of SHE staff of the corporation and units in recent times. Mr. Doan Van Nhuom said that although PVOIL has not had major incidents of fire or explosion, the system must not be subjective. He said that it is necessary to analyze and evaluate fire and explosion incidents of other units as lessons for PVOIL in daily operations.
The subsidiaries in the system need to be proactive and regularly maintain and maintain fire protection equipment. They must ensure safety and smooth operation for production and business activities. They need to strengthen inspection, supervision, and ensure safety in the activities of contractors, partners, and PVOIL employees in areas that require safety assurance. They also need to strengthen coordination with functional agencies to organize drills and improve readiness to respond to incidents.
At the same time, PVOIL President and CEO Mr. Doan Van Nhuom requested sunsidiaries to seriously evaluate the remaining issues, overcome shortcomings, and do better SHE work. This will contribute to the efficiency of production and business activities and protect the achievements that have been created.
On this occasion, PVOIL awarded prizes to outstanding collectives and individuals in SHE work in 2023.
