National Final of the PVOIL Cup 2025 Vietnam Gymkhana Championship

The final round of the PVOIL Cup 2025 Vietnam Gymkhana Championship (PVOIL VGC 2025) officially took place on the morning of August 30, 2025, at Ham Rong Square, Ham Rong Ward, Thanh Hoa Province.

As an annual national motorsport event, PVOIL VGC has grown in scale and quality over the years. For the 2025 season, Thanh Hoa was chosen to host the national final. Organizing the event at Ham Rong Square introduced a fresh setting that offered a unique experience: spectators witnessed thrilling speed and precise driving right in the heart of an urban center.

Mr Nguyen Duy Tu – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports & Tourism of Thanh Hoa Province, Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee, remarked: “This event marks the beginning of motorsport in our province and demonstrates Thanh Hoa’s potential to become a new destination for major cultural and sporting festivals.”

The final round brought together 26 of the best drivers from the northern and southern qualifiers, along with several wildcard entries. Competitors were divided into two drivetrain classes: Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) and Rear-/All-Wheel Drive (RWD/AWD). Each class had its own custom-designed course layout, optimized to highlight the unique handling characteristics of the respective drivetrains.

With the national Gymkhana championship, PVOIL has been the title sponsor since the inaugural season, underscoring its long-term commitment to the development of motorsports in Vietnam. Mr Cao Hoai Duong – Chairman of the Board of Directors of PVOIL emphasized: “Our sponsorship aims to inspire passion, promote safe driving skills, and cultivate a culture of responsible traffic behavior. PVOIL’s support has contributed to elevating the professionalism of racing events in Vietnam to approach international standards.”

At the opening ceremony, Mr Le Trung Hung – Vice President of PVOIL, shared: “PVOIL is not only a leading petroleum distributor in Vietnam, ensuring energy supply for socio-economic development, but also firmly embraces its corporate responsibility to create lasting value for the community. Beyond being the title sponsor of the Vietnam Off-road Cup (PVOIL VOC) for the past six years, this is now the second consecutive year PVOIL sponsors the national Gymkhana championship.”

In addition to being the title sponsor, PVOIL continues to serve as the exclusive fuel provider for the competition. Organizers, drivers, and spectators enjoyed quick and convenient access to fuel via PVOIL Mobile tanker trucks stationed at the venue.

Mr Nguyen Dai Hoang – CEO of OTV Media, Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee, noted: “Audiences will witness nail-biting showdowns timed to the thousandth of a second. This year, drivers have trained harder than ever, promising to deliver explosive performances.”

Gymkhana is a time-attack motorsport discipline requiring drivers to memorize and maneuver through complex obstacle courses including circles, figure-eights, zig-zag paths, and more. Minor mistakes—such as hitting a cone or going off course—incur penalties. Thus, beyond power and agility, key attributes include memory, reflexes, control, and strategic decision-making.

The PVOIL VGC 2025 was not just a sporting competition, but a community cultural event. The venue featured displays from major automotive brands such as VinFast, Skoda, BYD, and Tasco Auto. Attendees could also explore the PVOIL booth, take part in fun challenges with Heineken, and test drive new vehicle models.

A 300-seat grandstand and a live commentary booth were built trackside to help audiences follow the action while understanding tactics, vehicle specs, and driver profiles. Viewers unable to attend in person could follow the event via livestream on Otofun and VOV Giao Thong channels.

This year’s final round also coincided with the 10th anniversary of Otofun Thanh Hoa, one of the most active automotive communities in Vietnam. It was a valuable opportunity for the Otofun community to gather, celebrate, and share their positive spirit.

Demonstrating its commitment to social causes, the Organizing Committee partnered with OF Community Fund and Hop Luc Corporation to donate VND 100 million in support of families in Thanh Hoa affected by traffic accidents and difficult circumstances.

The total prize pool for PVOIL VGC 2025 reached VND 116 million, twice as much as the regional qualifiers. Both FWD and RWD/AWD classes offered equal rewards:

- 1st Prize: VND 30 million + Kumho tire set (worth VND 10 million)
- 2nd Prize: VND 8 million + PVOIL fuel voucher
- 3rd Prize: VND 5 million + PVOIL fuel voucher

These prizes not only motivated the athletes but also reflected the event’s increasing level of professionalism. With thorough preparation from both the drivers and the organizers, PVOIL VGC 2025 stands out as one of the most memorable sporting events of the year.
