[10] The Vietnam off-road car racing tournament PVOIL Cup 2021 was officially opened
On the morning of December 11th, 2021, the largest off-road car racing tournament in Vietnam, the PVOIL Cup 2021 (PVOIL VOC 2021) was officially kicked off at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village, Dong Mo, Son Tay District, Hanoi.
The sport event licensed by the General Department of Physical Education and Sports - Department of Mass Sports was organized by Otofun.net forum.
Originating from a game of car and terrain enthusiasts in 2008 with the forerunner name as Golden Wheel, the Vietnam VOC off-road car race officially became a national tournament in 2010.
Since 2019, with the sponsorship of PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) and other sponsors, the Vietnam Off-Road Racing Championship, which was later renamed to PVOIL VOC 2019 continued to expand and develop in both quality and scale.

2021 was a year with many challenges for all auto racing in general and PVOIL VOC in particular. The long-lasting impacts from the Covid-19 pandemic caused the Organizing Committee to delay the time of organizing the tournament two months later than scheduled.
However, with great efforts and determination, the PVOIL VOC 2021 tournament still took place. Not only maintaining the scale as the biggest auto race of the year, but the event became one of the most remarkable sport activities since the beginning of the year.
PVOIL VOC 2021 has attracted the attention and participation of more than 50 media members and television studios as well as a large number of audiences who came to cheer at the tournament and those who watched through online livestream on several channels across the country.
As the 13th tournament, PVOIL VOC 2021 had changes. For the first time, 6 contests took place on 6 tracks at the same time instead of 4 in earlier contests. That helps reduce the waiting time between tests for participating teams and minimizes the need to cut short the tests due to the influence of the weather.
This year tournament continued to maintain 4 categories: Vietnam Pickup, Basic, Advanced and Expanded with 10 challenging races, an exciting night races Adventure. In addition, the organisers had regulatory changes that benefit athletes in all divisions, helping to maximize performance, minimize damage and enhance safety for all participants.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dai Hoang, head of the Organizing Committee of PVOIL VOC 2021 affirmed: “It comes from the desire to bring a race with Safety - Transparency - Fairness - Fun”, organizers always strive to build VOC beyond the scale of competition on car driving skills. The event was expected to become a festival for the community of car and sports lovers.
With the event, organisers hope to discover and foster talents who will be capable enough to compete at international races, and at the same time, the tournament will become a channel to connect and encourage members to actively participate in community and social activities including rescuing and charity in remote areas.
Along with the development of motor sport in Vietnam in recent years, PVOIL VOC 2021 is expected to be a place for athletes who are passionate about off-road sport to show off their skills and compete with international standards.
Responding to strict regulations in the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic, organisers of the PVOIL VOC 2021 increased the number of ambulances and full-time medical staff to implement rapid test, isolation areas, and health care facilities. Safety equipment for organisers, Executive Board, Athletes, and spectators were ready.
In particular, organiser strictly controlled the audience to cheer and follow the racing teams. Before that, in the two days before the tournament happened, organizers tested 300 members of the Organizing Committee, the Tournament Executive Board, press and television units and athletes, who registered to participate in the tournament.

As planned, this year's tournament took place in 2 days, December 11 and 12, at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village, Dong Mo - Hanoi. At 8:00am, Mr. Nguyen Dai Hoang held a flag-raising ceremony to officially announce the start of the tournament.
