Joining hands to fight Covid-19 pandemic, PVOIL supported 9 tons of rice

On April 21, 2020, representatives of PVOIL donated 5 tons of rice to the Fatherland Front Committee of Thu Duc district. Among the donated rice, the employees of the parent company – Corporation contributed 4 tons. The remaining 1 ton was contributed by employees of Thu Duc Import Export Trading Joint Stock Company (TIMEXCO). The rice was transferred to “Rice ATM” in the district’s Children Cultural House, which offers to the poor and needy, which offers rice to about 4,000 people daily.

In addition, employees of the parent company – Corporation donated 2 tons of rice to district 12, Ho Chi Minh city. The rice is also distributed to the poor and needy in the district through “Rice ATM”, which serves more than 2,000 people every day.

Earlier, on April 16, 2020, PVOIL Phu Yen donated 2 tons of rice to a “Rice ATM” in the Cultural center at Dong Xuan district, Phu Yen province; sponsored VND20 million to produce another “Rice ATM”, which located at Central Industrial and Commercial College.

The total number of rice donated: the parent company - Corporation donated 6 tons, PVOIL Phu Yen donated 2 tons, TIMEXCO donated 1 ton.

The rice donation to help people in difficult circumstances affected by Covid-19 pandemic continues to show the spirit of solidarity, support to the community of PVOIL.

Prior to this rice donation activity, PVOIL had several activities in an effort to help limit impact of coronavirus pandemic. The corporation donated 50,000 medical masks to customers and people at PVOIL's petroleum stations.

The corporation’s storages proactively offered lunch to drivers who could not find restaurants when the country adopted nationwide social distancing campaign. In response to the Government's call, PVOIL donated VND100 million to buy a virus test kit.

PVOIL continues to maintain and develop a non-cash payment method at petroleum stations. This is a unique competitive service and a solution to help limit cash exposure. It also helps limit the risk of disease transmission.
