Regarding the Restoration of PVOIL's Information Technology System
As previously reported, on April 2nd, 2024 at 00:00, the information technology system of PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) was subjected to a deliberate and illegal ransomware attack. This incident caused a disruption to PVOIL's information technology system.
PVOIL promptly reported the incident to the relevant authorities and immediately implemented remedial solutions to ensure business continuity.
With the timely and active support of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05) - Ministry of Public Security, the Department of Information Security - Ministry of Information and Communications, cyber security consulting units, and the efforts of the technical staff, PVOIL has investigated the cause and is gradually restoring the system, with the expected return of applications within the next 1-2 days.
Prioritizing the uninterrupted supply of essential gasoline and oil to the market, PVOIL partnered with the General Department of Taxation and local Tax Departments. Together, we developed a temporary solution to ensure the continued issuance of electronic invoices during recovery. This resulted in the successful resumption of electronic invoice and delivery note issuance through a service provider's IT system by 3:00 PM on April 3rd, 2024, just over a day after the cyberattack.
PVOIL's electronic invoice management and issuance system is expected to return to normal operation by the end of this week. PVOIL Easy, PVOIL B2B, and other applications are also anticipated to be back online tomorrow.
PVOIL extends its sincere gratitude to the authorities, the media, and our valued customers for sharing information, expressing understanding, and offering enthusiastic support throughout this incident./.
