PVOIL continues to be among Forbes Vietnam’s top 50 brands list

On August 4th, 2020 Forbes Vietnam announced the 2020 list of Vietnam’s 50 Most Valuable Brands.

The total brand value in this fifth annual list is more than $12.6 billion, an increase of 22% compared to the previous list announced in 2019.

Viettel, Vinamilk, VNPT, Sabeco, Vinhomes, MobiFone, Masan Consumer, Vietcombank, FPT and Vincom Retail are among the top 10 brands in this year’s list.

Meanwhile, the top 50 most valuable brands was sorted by industries. Most of the listees have a history of more than 10 years, long enough for companies to establish their names on the top of customers’ mind.

Remarkably, F&B and financial services which have nine brands each are the two industries that account a majority of the most valuable brands, followed by real estate, technology, construction materials and retail.

Viettel is on top of the list this year, with its brand value of more than $2.9 billion, followed by Vinamilk with $2.4 billion. These are two outstanding brands compared to the rest of the list.

The top 10 brands by value account for 60% of the list's total value. A decline in the stock market makes the P/E ratios of some industries decrease, leading to a decrease in brand value despite an increase in profits.

During its valuation process, Forbes Vietnam managed to collect data from private companies and large state-owned corporations. Forbes did not evaluate monopolist companies, wholesale businesses, and brands that do not affect customers’ buying behaviors.

However, Forbes Vietnam did not have enough information to evaluate the brand value of some large state-owned and private enterprises since they do not disclose data.

Therefore, public companies make up a large proportion of the list. In fact, Forbes Vietnam said that the list will be supplemented with many other notable brands when information from State-owned firms and private enterprises is disclosed.
