PVOIL sends students home through "Returning homeland for Tet” program

06:00 am on February 2nd, 2021 (the 21st day of the twelfth lunar month), at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, the first coach of the “Returning homeland for Tet” departed, sending students to their home to celebrate Tet with their families.

In this year’s program, PVOIL is expected to send 880 students from the Ho Chi Minh City’s National University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City University of Petroleum to their home towns. This has been the fourth year PVOIL cooperated with universities to organize the program.

Fulfilling the COVID-19 pandemic prevention requirement, PVOIL and universities adjusted plans to organize the Departure Ceremony in an appropriate manner by minimizing the concentration of students while fully implementing medical declarations, mask donation, hand disinfection to the students.

In addition to 20 high-quality coaches for the students, PVOIL offered rice and drinking water for all of them during the journey. After departing Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the coaches stopped at Binh Thuan for lunch, dinner in Phu Yen, and breakfast in Ha Tinh province.

Previously, on January 29th, 2021, members of TIMEXCO Company’s Youth Union together with their peers from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education’s Youth Union made bánh chưng (square Glutinous rice cake) as gifts for the students.

PVOIL covers costs for car rental, food and drink on the road and the students did not have to pay any free for the services. At the rest stops, Youth Union members and employees of PVOIL in the provinces offered food, water to students. The participating units include PVOIL Binh Thuan, PVOIL Phu Yen, PVOIL Central, PVOIL Thua Thien - Hue, PVOIL Vung Ang, PVOIL Thanh Hoa.

Ha Huong Tra, a resident of Ha Tinh province, who is a freshman of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, said she has not returned home to meet relatives since she enrolled to the university. She was very eager when having a chance to return home. Tra has to spend about VND1.8 - 2 million for each trip to her home. For her, it is a large amount of money. Her family is ha poor family and her parents, who work as farmers, have to support four children to study in schools and universities.

Without this progamme organised by PVOIL, she won't be able to go home to celebrate Tet She hope that the trips like this continue to support many disadvantaged students to return home for Tet with their families.

Vo Thi My Tuyet, a native of Quang Nam, who is also a freshman of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, said that during the recent floods and storms in the Central region, her family suffered serious losses from perennial crops and her parents had to work as hired laborer.

Tuyet is the eldest child of the family. Beside her, her parents have two other children who are also studying. The cost for her to return home to celebrate Tet is a big concern for her family and herself. Tuyet is very happy and grateful for the program which give her the opportunity to return home to celebrate Tet with her family.

“The program is meaningful. Without this ride I will have to spend a lot of money to go home. My family is under economic difficulty, so the saved money is enough to make my Tet warmer. Thanks PVOIL for organising the program,” Huynh Quoc Dan, a freshman of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education confided.

Being happy, excited and grateful are the common feelings of the students participating the program. This brings happiness and motivation for PVOIL in maintaining such a meaningful program throughout the years.

Besides production and business activities, PVOIL is interested in organizing practical and meaningful social programs for those who face difficulty in society. “Returning homeland for Tet” is not only an activity to support students but shows deeply the compassion of PVOIL towards the community. With its sincerity, PVOIL hopes the students to have a good journey of love when returning home to celebrate Tet with their gamily in happiness.
