PVOIL offers tank truck drivers free lunch on Covid-19 social distancing days

When Vietnam is conducting a social distancing campaign nationwide to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, several people have to work from home. The petroleum sector has to maintain operations to ensure fuel supply for business operation, production and travel demand of people.

In particular, petroleum storages of PVOIL have to maintain operations to supply enough products to hundreds of tankers which transport petroleum to retail outlets, customers. PVOIL’s petroleum storage system ensure strict body temperature checks, wear medical protective masks, disinfect hands when working in the storages.

It is challenging that truck drivers could not find restaurants for their lunches these days, since most of the restaurants are closed. There is no food and drink during the time of picking up goods.

Storages of PVOIL have actively offered lunch to the drivers. From March 31, 2020, PETEC Hai Phong petroleum storage and Dinh Vu petroleum storage in Hai Phong city, Chan May petroleum storage in Thua Thien – Hue province, Dung Quat petroleum storage in Quang Ngai provided free lunch to all of tanker drivers. Each serving includes bread, milk and water. Nha Be petroleum storage in Ho Chi Minh city, Mien Dong petroleum storage in Vung Tau city prepare instant noodles and eggs for the drivers. This meal is completely free. This service will be continued until the social distancing campaign ends when restaurants resume operation.

"This program is very meaningful and helpful. Thank you very much,” said Dinh Tai Nguyen, driver of truck plated 29H-228.17 at Dinh Vu petroleum storage. "I am touched. Thanks for supporting us," said Bui Van Thanh, driver of truck plated 88K-4898.

This is among activities PVOIL has been deploying to support the community and customers to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. Previously, the corporation had donated 50,000 medical masks to customers and employees in its retail outlet system in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Can Tho, Hai Phong and Vinh Phuc. In response to the Government's call, PVOIL also donated VND100 million to buy a virus test kit.
