Vietnam Offroad PVOIL Cup 2023 (PVOIL VOC 2023) will officially take place on three days October 27-29 with the participation of 87 teams, competing in 4 categories, said the tournament’s organizing committee.
On October 5th, the PVOIL VOC 2023’s organizing committee held a press meeting announcing and answering information before the tournament takes place. In a year with the most sports car competitions ever, PVOIL VOC 2023 continues to have notable innovations to maintain its position.
The year 2022 marks the 15th anniversary of the PVOIL VOC, which successfully took place from November 4–6, 2022. On that basis, PVOIL VOC 2023 continues to be held for three days, October 27–29, promising to once again become a racing festival with thousands of audiences. To maintain its position as the largest off-road car race of the year, the Organizing Committee has decided to make important changes.
Mr. Nguyen Dai Hoang - Head of PVOIL VOC 2023 Organizing Committee
First, there will no longer be a Vietnam Pickup class for the first pickup trucks introduced in 2016. Instead, a brand-new class, Advanced Pickup, was introduced by the organizing committee. The pickup trucks taking part will still be the ones that are on sale, but they will have more upgrades and have to overcome more challenging obstacles. Additionally, Basic, Advanced SUV, and Extended make up the final three categories.
Second, PVOIL VOC 2023 will not have the Adventure Night Race Track. The competition distance will instead be increased, and more competition routes will be opened in new locations, renewing the competition tracks for this year. To preserve surprise during testing, the formula for road development calls for updating 30–40% of the roads annually.
Mr. Ngo Viet Dung - Head of PVOIL VOC 2023 Executive Board
According to the Racetrack Design and Construction Team, PVOIL VOC 2023 is expected to have 15 racetracks. Of these, 14 tracks have been identified, including three completely new tracks, some of which have been redesigned. In particular, track number 14 will be surveyed and calculated to be reserved for the Advanced Pickup Class.
At PVOIL VOC 2023, for the first time, audiences and racers will witness a motorized paragliding performance by the Sky Rider Team. According to the plan, the pilot group will perform demonstration flights twice. Including flying at the same time as the Drift Show at 7:30 a.m. on October 28. Next, at around 8:30 a.m. on the same day, the Sky Rider Team will have a parachute flying performance along with the racing parade across the stage.
Sky Rider's flying squad includes riders who have just competed in the 2022 World Paragliding World Cup taking place in Korea. Motorized paragliding pilots are also attached to Otofun and OTV Media events.
Among them, Mr. Nguyen Manh Thang, VOC champion in 2010, was also the person who flew with a parachute and hoisted the national flag in a unique flag salute at the Vietnam Map Record Vehicle Arrangement Program in Do Son, Hai Phong, in July 2022.
Like every year, at PVOIL VOC 2023, spectators coming to watch the competition always have the opportunity to directly experience new car models launched on the market under the guidance of experienced drivers.
This year, audiences can personally drive models from the Subaru and Isuzu brands on off-road roads that simulate part of the tournament's competitions, which are challenges that are not easy to encounter when driving.
