PVOIL's Information Technology System Incident
On April 2nd, 2024 at 00:00, the information technology system of PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) was subjected to a deliberate and illegal ransomware attack. This incident caused a disruption to PVOIL's information technology system.
PVOIL has coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to handle the incident according to the law and has reported the incident to relevant authorities to maintain business operations and resolve the incident as soon as possible.
During the incident response, to ensure the supply of gasoline and oil (an essential commodity that cannot be interrupted), PVOIL and its member units continued to serve customers; however, they were unable to issue electronic invoices, internal delivery and transportation notes, and only issued delivery notes for goods in transit, including all necessary information.
Once the system is restored to normal operation, PVOIL will issue electronic invoices, internal delivery and transportation notes, and carry out other procedures in accordance with current regulations.
