In early 2020, a robbery occurred at Nam petroleum station belong to PVOIL Vung Ang (Son Chau commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province). The robber disguised as a customer buying petroleum at the retail outlet. He suddenly put a knife to the neck of a staff and asked for money. The robber was arrested by this employee and assigned to the functional forces to handle.
Previously, many of the businesses' petroleum station were robbed of assets or thugs who assaulted and injured employees.
From several similar incidents, PVOIL leader recognized that petroleum stations are potential places for robbery and social disorder, especially those operate at night time or locate in remote areas. Lives and security for staffs could be at risk. Therefore, security and safety training courses for employees working at petroleum stations are essential.
On May 4, 2020, the corporation organized a training course to provide knowledge on security, safety and self-defense to more than 2,600 employees. Of the trainees, 2,500 work at PVOIL petroleum stations.
In order to ensure quality for the training course, PVOIL cooperated with a vocational training center under the People's Police College No.6 for the training content and practice.
The course was also designed under E-Learning program that could help employees who worked at petroleum stations to learn while following the social distancing campaign to avoid coronavirus pandemic.
This training form also helped learners to be active in arranging studying time. Images in the training booklet help them to understand and remember lessons easily.
The training program aims to help the employees with necessary knowledge and skills for crime prevention, self-defense to protect themselves, others and the petroleum stations.
The course includes overview of the security situation, safety at petroleum stations, identifying security threats and terrorist threats at the stations, self-defense, controlling situation methods, recognizing threats of security, terrorism.
The employees were also trained with self-defense techniques and ways to react to crimes at petroleum stations.
In addition, PVOIL staff participated in rehearsals, filming at the stations in practical situations to share information and experience.
On the basis of the training course, PVOIL is building security, safety plans for its retail outlet system and each specific station.
At the same time, PVOIL has actively propagandized that its stations do not have cash and installed surveillance cameras to prevent crime.
